Currently, as a journalist based in the Yucatán Peninsula, I have dedicated my time and energy to shedding light on issues affecting Indigenous communities. From the mega rail Tren Maya project, a project that has displaced local communities from their land and has caused a plethora of negative impacts on the environment, to the inspiring story of a team of Mayan women, Las Amazonas de Yaxunah, who play softball barefoot and in traditional dress as a way of challenging cultural gender norms that restricted women’s participation in sports historically.
My biggest journalistic accomplishment is interviewing Kendrick Lamar in 2010, his first non-affiliated interview and my first in-person interview.
Most recently, my work has been featured in The Sun magazine and on BreakThrough News.
